Conference on World Affairs

Overall Impression:This was the last panel of the week and was probably one of the best. I learned a lot and really enjoyed everything about it. Jim Smith, a new conference attendee, managed to peak with his presentation and ideas during this panel. His wife's presence on the panel provided a memorable moment of levity. (see below) Everybody was extremely civil and clear in their presentation as well. Alas it also has the most notes of any of the panels I went to. Many of the ideas are complicated as well. Therefore I am going to cop out and not write about it until I see if I can get to watch a videotape of the panel. Stay tuned!

Janet Breslin-Smith-Ellsberg

When this panel started her husband Jim was sitting in the last seat on the dais, but with an empty chair to his right. Daniel Ellsberg arrived late and took the seat on the end. At some point Janet made a reference to her loving husband at the end of the table. Daniel's reaction and the ensuing hilarity made for one of the more enjoyable moments of the week.
